I’ve been dying to talk about the beach clubs because they are the reason you never have to leave the gates of Punta Mita. My husband’s first reaction when I told him about all of the “clubs” was, “We are bringing the kids to a beach club?” No. No, silly, that’s just what they call the beaches that have pools, umbrellas, drinks, food, activities, restaurants, and bars. Four reference there was no loud club music. In fact, the music I did here was very a very chill and relaxing (almost smooth jazz style) take on today’s hits.
Each one offers something different and unique while all being perfectly situated on a gorgeous beach with stunning view and ambiance. I break them down here:
Kupuri Beach Club
My kids loved Kupuri because of the kid’s club, Kiddou. It is two level building filled with toys, games, a blow-up slide, rock climbing wall and has activities for all age groups. You do have to pay additionally for the kid’s club but in my opinion, it was worth every penny. I also loved that my youngest, not yet two was also able to stay and play. At most resorts across the world kid’s clubs have a minimum age of at least 3 or 4 so I was super happy that both of my boys got to play together. They also had a great completely shaded kids pool that my kids could easily walk and play in.
I loved Kupuri, well, because I could send the kids to kid’s club and relax! No, but really, the pool was great and so was the beach. The ocean was calm and swimmable, and the sand is soft and fine. When the kids weren’t around, I choose to spend my time on the beach that has complimentary lounge chairs, umbrellas, towels, and full food and drink service. There is also a beach and pool bar, so nothing is too far out of reach. This place was very family friendly and there were tons of couples and families with small children that lined the beach and filled the big pool. The women’s restroom had a spa feel and was the perfect place to shower and change after a day at the beach.
The beach club also has a restaurant, Asai, onsite but unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to try it out. It is a Japanese restaurant and highly rated on Tripadvisor.
Pacifico Beach Club
Pacifico was another family favorite! First of all, we went there every single night just to watch the sunset! Stunning! They have a lovely restaurant onsite so even at sunset people are in the pool and drinks and food are being served.
Jacob told me this was his favorite beach club because of the kid’s pool. It wasn’t overwhelmingly big so he felt safe in it. The kid’s pool is divided into two parts by a small wall that is hidden below water. One part for very small children (my 2 year old could stand in) and the other half a little deeper. It also had a small jungle gym just outside of the kids pull with a rock wall, slide and swings.
I personally loved this beach club because of the proximity of the kid’s pool, big pool, and beach. The layout made it every easy to go back and forth throughout the day. Again, this was another beach club full of couples and families and people of all ages. The kids were able to enjoy every aspect of the club and I didn’t feel like they were bothering anyone as they swam and had fun!
Pacifico also had a huge array of water activities. The favorite seemed to be surf lessons. The ocean here has small manageable waves which makes it fun for kids of all ages.
The restaurant onsite also made it very easy to get good quality food throughout the day. The tropical drinks, “jamba juices” as Jacob called them, margaritas, and freshly made chips and guacamole were delicious! We did eat at the restaurant one night and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is laid back, the fish is fresh, and the sunset is remarkable!
Sufi Ocean Club
Sufi Ocean Club seemed to be more of a toddler free zone, although they are welcome. It was a smaller infinity pool with egg shaped and resort style bed chairs, as well a it overlooked the ocean and pier but did not have ocean access with umbrellas and lounge chairs like Pacifico and Kupuri. We didn’t spend much time here. In fact, we decided to go on our last day just to check it out and walk down the pier. It seemed to attract a childless crowd.
Sea Breeze Beach Club at the St. Regis
Sea Breeze at the St. Regis was also a nice spot with a large, fun pool and beautiful white sand beaches. I will say, it is part of the St. Regis so you are paying St. Regis prices. When we arrived to the Sea Breeze parking gate there was a sign that read “minimum spend limit per person” to enter. However, when we left we were never asked how much we spent. I guess it depends on the time of day and who you get.
Sea Breeze is also home to the famous Mary Mita Boat which is a bar on the sand shaped like a boat and serves delicious tacos and drinks.
